Year-End Crime Prevention Campaign 2018
OUTREACH EFFORTS TO STOP SCAMS AND FESTIVE-RELATED CRIMES DURING YEAR-END PERIOD
Ms Sun Xueling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development launched the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF)’s “Let’s Fight Scams!” on 9 November 2018 at Ang Mo Kio Central Stage.
The “Let’s Fight Scams” campaign calls upon the community and organisations to rally together for a united fight against scams by pledging their support for this campaign. Pledging is a powerful act which one can take to remind oneself to be wary of scams. Members of the public are encouraged to visit www.scamalert.sg/fight to pledge to:
- to stay vigilant
with Scam Alerts, which will equip me with the first-hand information, tips and news from the NCPC and the Police -
to protect my loved ones
and prevent them from getting hurt by sharing this information with them whenever I can.
The campaign focuses on the four types of scams - Internet Love Scam, Impersonation Scam, E-commerce scam & Loan scam – which are of concern to the Police and NCPC. For more information on the “Let’s Fight Scams!” campaign, click here.
Besides launching the “Let’s Fight Scams!” campaign during the campaign , the NCPC also held a three-day crime prevention roadshow to educate the public on crimes related to festive season such as scams, shop theft and outrage of modesty.
