Launch of Bicycle Security Label
The NCPC, in a joint project with the Singapore Police Force, launched the Bicycle Security Label at Tampines Town Council, Singapore's first cycling town.
Bearing the SPF and NCPC logo, the label contains a unique set of identity numbers, is temper proof and has security features, similar to high security items like passports, that make it virtually impossible to replicate.
The NCPC would like to emphasize that the labels are just one method of crime prevention. It works in conjunction with other measures such as not leaving the bicycle unattended, unchained and in an isolated area.
Also, it is important to note that the labels do not work as proof of ownership. It gives a unique identity to the bicycle, much like an identity card.
These labels will be distributed free of charge at all Neighbourhood Police Centre from May 2011
